Foundation Governors Fund

The Foundation Governors Fund is committed to benevolent giving. Its primary objective is to improve the progress and education of current and former students along with supporting community projects.

What is the Foundation Governors Fund?

The fund is open to all present and past students within the community and is designed to assist young people in the pursuit of their aspirations and excellence.

Where does the money come from?

The money available was originally left to the Academy through charitable donations from members of the community by the Local Authority. Moving forward it is envisaged that the fund will be supported by various fundraising initiatives by staff and students within the Academy.

What has the money helped towards in the past?

Past grants have been awarded to students who wish to excel in their chosen areas of expertise and realise their aspirations with the following examples:

  • Students striving to raise money to attend the Kickboxing Open World Amateur Championships.
  • A year 9 student wishing to attend the Expressive Performance European Championship Trip to study Music, Dance and Expressive Performance.
  • A former student studying at Studio La Pointe for a Professional Dance Diploma.
  • An annual donation to the Academy’s Presentation Evening that rewards students for their performance in their GCSE exam subject or for contribution and effort during the academic year.

The Accord Multi Academy Trust is an educational charity established in September 2016 that is currently made up of four academies who were the founding members of the Trust. In September 2016 Horbury Academy and Ossett Academy & Sixth Form College came together, moving away from their stand-alone Trust status and were joined in December 2016 by Horbury Primary Academy and Middlestown Primary Academy.

The overarching vision for the Trust is to work in one ‘Accord – celebrating the differences of each academy through strong collaboration in order to inspire all members of our learning community to be the best that they can be.
