Letter 17/07/2020 - Transition Information for Year 7 in SeptemberCTA
As you’ll be aware, in May, the Government updated planning for primary schools and stated that visits to secondary schools for induction would not take place this year. As a result, we have come up with new ways to introduce our new Year 7 pupils to our academy, as follows.
Virtual Tour of our Academy
You can’t come to us so we’ll come to you… through a virtual tour of our academy!
Watch our film below to discover some of the important places in our academy and get to know a little bit about what kind of things go on. Oh and keep one eye open for a VIP round these parts – Ossy, our academy mascot, who clearly likes being the centre of attention, popping up in every room!
To complement our virtual tour, we‘ve produced a series of ‘talking heads’ clips, to introduce our new intake to key staff and subjects, which you can find here and you can find our Year 7 Form Tutors here.
We hope that by familiarising you with our staff, subjects and academy, it will help with any feelings of unease you may experience before September.
Virtual Welcome Evening
Take a look at our Virtual Welcome Evening below.
Our Year 6 Transition Guide was produced before the pandemic, however it does contain lots of essential information you will need to know in readiness for September.

All pupils wanting to cycle into the academy must fill in a Bicycle Pass form which you’ll find within the letter below. This letter must be returned to your PYL (Pastoral Year Leader) in return for a Bicycle Pass. Pupils must do this before they bring their bicycle into the academy.
Watch our Transition Leader, Mr Usherwood’s, introduction to transition activities here.
We’ve put together an activity for pupils to complete over the summer holidays which, whilst fun, makes use of their Maths and English skills! You can find this optional homework here with an explanation here.
In addition, here are some transition activities and challenges we would like pupils to complete:
We hope you have fun with these over the holiday period and look forward to seeing your finished pieces of work!
For more information on transition, please refer to the below parental letters, as well as our Frequently Asked Questions for parents and pupils which can be found here….and please keep checking this page for more updates around transition.
We’re looking forward to meeting you soon!
