Contact & Communication

We primarily communicate with parents and carers through emails and texts via the My Child At School (MCAS) system. This provides automatic notifications on homework, attendance, detentions and ‘above and beyond’ rewards, and also allows staff to get in touch about any specific issues.

All inbound communication from parents and carers should, in the first instance, come through to our enquiries helpdesk – enquiries@ossett.accordmat.org. Our helpdesk team will answer any queries they can and, where appropriate, will direct your email onto the relevant staff member to be answered.

We recognise the importance of clear and effective communication with all stakeholders (including pupils/students, parents/carers, governors, outside agencies, local and national bodies), and are committed to being accessible through a range of communication channels.

With this in mind, we have produced the below documentation, in consultation with our Parent Forum, to address the ways in which we will ensure effective two-way communication between home and the academy takes place, and the expectations of each method of communication.

Leading Parent Partnership Award Engage (LPPA)

We are extremely pleased to have been awarded the Leading Parent Partnership Award Engage (LPPA). This award acknowledges our commitment to engage with all parents/carers and also specifically focuses on our engagement of families whose need for support is greatest.

We continually strive to evaluate, celebrate and improve our parental engagement and the fact that we were the first school in the country to gain LPPA Engage is a fantastic achievement and recognition of this. If you would like more information on LPPA, please follow the link: http://www.lppa.co.uk/

Our work with parents is of the utmost importance and so we are constantly seeking to review our provision in this respect.  If you are interested in contributing to developments at the academy then please don’t hesitate to make contact with a view to attending one of our regular Parent Forum events.
