Welcome from the Executive Principal

I am delighted to welcome you to the Ossett Academy website. Thank you for taking the time to find out more about us.

Ossett Academy and Accord Sixth Form College is a co-educational 11-18 secondary school for more than 1,700 pupils, including more than 230 Sixth Form students. Our academy is in the heart of Ossett, Wakefield, and we are proud to serve our local community. We are part of Accord Multi Academy Trust (MAT) and we, along with the four other local schools in the Accord MAT family, are committed to ensuring first-class teaching and pastoral care for children in the Wakefield area.

We are a happy, thriving academy providing high quality education both in the classroom and through a wide range of extracurricular and enrichment activities. We take the business of learning and personal development seriously. We provide an inspiring curriculum based on knowledge acquisition and fostering a love of learning. Pupils are valued as individuals and we are passionately committed to their achievement, personal growth and excellence in everything we do. We have a history of strong academic performance and put much of our success down to our values, aspirations and vision, as well as working in partnership with a community who take pride in their local school.

The academy has an excellent reputation and, without exception, all staff in the academy have the very highest expectations of our pupils in every aspect of academy life. From high levels of attendance and punctuality to pupils’ behaviour and conduct in lessons and around the academy, we believe that by paying close attention to the details and getting them just right, we support our pupils to thrive and develop into fine citizens who are ambassadors for their family and community. This is underpinned by our Accord Key Character Virtues: Ambition, Compassion, Courage, Open Minded, Resilience and Duty.

The purposeful atmosphere and friendliness of our school community is palpable. We value positive relationships at all levels. Good behaviour, hard work, pupil participation and a real desire to learn and improve are central to achievement. We believe in the potential of every pupil, providing opportunities and enabling them to thrive in our caring environment.

I am immensely proud to be Executive Principal at Ossett Academy and I consider it a great privilege to work alongside our amazing pupils, staff, parents, carers and governors.

I hope our website provides you with the information you require, but if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us and arrange a visit so that you can see for yourself what a fantastic place Ossett Academy really is.
